Contemporary Backyard Office Pod OKO120 | 120 sq ft.

This project highlights a contemporary backyard office designed to give the client a dedicated workspace away from distractions inside the home. The goal was to create a focused and comfortable environment that supports productivity while maintaining a strong connection to the outdoor space.

The chosen model is the OKO120, one of our most popular office pods. At 120 square feet, it provides a well balanced layout with enough room for a complete home office setup, including desk space, storage, and easy movement throughout, without taking over the backyard.

The client wanted a clean, modern exterior with a natural feel. For the finish, Natural Thermowood cladding was paired with our Porch Detail. The timber brings warmth and texture to the design and will naturally weather over time into a soft silver tone, helping the structure blend naturally into its surroundings.

To add more architectural interest, the design uses mixed cladding directions. The recessed areas feature horizontal cladding, while the main exterior surfaces are finished with vertical cladding. This contrast creates a simple but refined contemporary look with added depth and character.

The Pod is installed on our OKOBASE Raft foundation system, which is a zero concrete solution. This approach removes the need for traditional wet trades and significantly reduces disruption during installation. It also allows for a faster and cleaner build process, making it well suited for residential backyards.

Like all OKOPOD projects, the unit was prefabricated in our factory before being delivered to site in modular sections. This controlled off site process ensures consistent quality and precision. Once delivered, the Pod was assembled on site in just 3 to 5 days, keeping disruption to a minimum.

From order to installation, typical lead times are around 12 to 14 weeks. This means homeowners can move from concept to a fully functional backyard office in a relatively short timeframe.
