Designing a Custom Backyard Pod
Rather than starting with a completely fixed design, the client was able to choose the OKO120 size and then work with the design team to tailor the Pod around the site and how they wanted to use it.
The addition of bifold doors was an important part of the design. Opening directly onto the patio, the doors allow the space to feel connected to the garden and create a much wider opening when the Pod is in use.
A large window was also incorporated into the design, bringing additional natural light into the interior and making the most of the views from the space.
This combination of glazing and openable doors gives the compact Pod a strong connection to the existing outdoor space.
A Modern Yakisugi Exterior
The OKO120 is finished with Yakisugi siding, giving the Pod its distinctive black exterior.
The dark cladding creates a clean, contemporary look and gives the building a strong architectural presence within the backyard. It is particularly well suited to a modern design where the materials and simple form are allowed to speak for themselves.
The result is a backyard structure that feels considered rather than purely functional, while the natural setting around it provides contrast to the dark exterior.
Prefabricated for a Faster Installation
The OKO120 is prefabricated in the OKOPOD factory before being delivered to the client’s property.
This approach means that much of the construction takes place away from the home, with the Pod arriving ready to be assembled on site.
OKOPOD Pods are installed in approximately three to five days, depending on the project. By moving much of the construction process into a controlled factory environment, the amount of time spent carrying out construction work at the property is reduced.
The prefabricated approach also helps minimize construction waste, with OKOPOD’s process designed to reduce material waste to nearly zero.
