“The quality of the build is exceptional and the level of service I received was second to none.”
Modular
Our prefabricated PODs are built off-site in a controlled environment, which gives us the ability to build with precision and sustainably. Building off-site means there is much less waste than a conventional build. The POD’s are then delivered as a complete POD by lorry and craned into position, or if they are too large or the site has no easy access, we deliver in sections and our skilled team complete the installation. This is dramatically less disruption then onsite building. It is an eco-friendly and more affordable way to build.
Bespoke
Building bespoke is an exciting choice to make. We try and make the process enjoyable and stress-free, guiding you through the process. The aim is to provide the perfect sustainable, stylish garden room for you that meets your needs exactly. We have a range of eco-freindly products to choose from, and we can advise on energy efficient ways to control the heating and cooling in your POD. Our customers tell us they love their PODs, which also makes us very happy.
Process
We take care of our customers from the initial phone call, design stages, through to the final installation and after care advice. The build is off-site in our workshop to minimise disruption for our customers, and to be in a managed environment with minimum waste. We can also advise on planning (but this is rarely needed for a garden room).
Building Regulations
It is important that our buildings are Building Regulation Compliant, since it reflects the structural integrity of our buildings as well as confirming that our buildings meet the u-values required for energy efficiency and comfort. We also exceed the insulation value required. If required we can also ensure our garden rooms have Building Regulation compliance certification.
Materials
We have a wide range of materials to select from, chosen on their eco-credentials as well as their performance. The birch trees we use are a fast-growing species native to north-eastern Europe, the abundance and speed of growth of Birch trees means that it causes minimal devastation or destruction of biodiversity when they are cut down, making Birch plywood a sustainable choice that has little impact on the environment. We also have a programme for planting trees, for every OKOPOD we sell.
Flexible
The uses for the POD are flexible, you can have a home office one year and a guest room another, with a discreet storage room on the side if required. The possibilities are endless.
Since every POD is bespoke, we can build any size and any shape. You can also decide on roof shape, number and size of windows and what kind of doors you would like. You can make this your very own POD.
Low maintenance
We use materials which require little to no maintenance. Cladding will naturally silver to a beautiful colour, lasting for at least 35-80 years dependent on material. Our doors and windows are made from aluminium and our roof substrate is EPDM rubber, which don’t require maintenance.

Our PODs are more air-tight than conventional construction. We can also provide infra red heaters so your space will heat up quicker than just about any other heating solution, and because they warm up the objects in the room (rather than the air in the room), you’ll feel the effects a lot quicker too. The cost of running an infrared panel versus an electrical convection heater is far cheaper as they require less power output to provide the same level of heat. Every POD also comes with natural fibre Thermafleece insulation, which together with the air-tight construction method means they will retain their heat better in the winter.
We use low carbon aluminum made by electricity through hydropower plants. Our thermafleece insulation has a low embodied energy of manufacture for every tonne manufactured, more than 300kg of carbon dioxide is removed from the atmosphere. Our cork flooring is Corka which is carbon negative and is the recipient of a prestigious Blue Angel rating which is a German Government scheme which awards exceptionally environmentally friendly products.
Our approach generates ⅕ of the waste compared to traditional construction methods
PODs can benefit from the addition of a sedum roof, this acts as natural insulation, regulating the temperature inside which can reduce the need for artificial heating or cooling, aligning with the eco-friendly principles of the OKOPOD design. Importantly the sedum plants on the roof attract pollinators, contributing to local biodiversity. The sedum plants are known for their low maintenance requirements. This aligns with the Okopod’s low to no maintenance approach.
