Yakisugi: Combining Tradition and Durability
The standout feature of this garden room is its yakisugi cladding. This Japanese technique involves charring wood to make it more durable and resistant to weather, insects, and decay. Here’s why we chose yakisugi:
- Durability: It protects the wood from natural wear and tear, perfect for outdoor structures.
- Low Maintenance: The charred wood requires little upkeep.
- Natural Beauty: Its dark, textured finish blends seamlessly with the garden.
- Eco-Friendly: Extends the wood’s lifespan without harmful treatments.
- Fire Resistance: The charred surface adds an extra layer of fire safety.
A Modern, Minimalist Design
We paired the yakisugi with jet-black aluminum sliding doors for a modern, sleek aesthetic. The large glass doors allow plenty of natural light, creating the perfect environment for painting. Inside, the minimal design offers a flexible, open space, giving the client freedom to customise it to their needs.
