Meet Our Founder James Homes

Okopod was founded in 2019 by James Home, who wanted to build contemporary, premium garden rooms, sustainably and more efficiently than anyone else. He knew if he built them in a workshop, the quality control would be much easier than onsite, waste which is a big problem in the building industry would be dramatically reduced. For the client there would be less disruption onsite, the assembly would be fast, the Okopods could arrive fully assembled by lorry, or in sections and assembled efficiently by a team.

Okopod has expanded in the last few years, people love the style and ease of a modular build, so demand has grown naturally to include extensions and garages. In the last 2 years larger PODs have been in demand and locally this includes a detached, large pottery studio in Cambridge, as well as a number of houses across the UK.

James has a vision is to provide good quality buildings, in a sustainable form, therefore he sees the future to be modular, timber-framed houses. He expects to be supplying homes across the UK and Okopod to be the new convention for house building.

Pushing Boundaries
Innovate Construction Techniques

If we are met with a problem we are ready to provide new and better solutions. Such as our Oko_raft, a way to provide a stable foundation, faster and cheaper than conventional foundations, with less disruption to the ground.

Passionate
About the Environment

We are passionate about the environment and we keep updated on the latest sustainable materials and better working practices.

The birch trees we use are a fast-growing species native to north-eastern Europe, the abundance and speed of growth of Birch trees means that it causes minimal devastation or destruction of biodiversity when they are cut down, making Birch plywood a sustainable choice that has little impact on the environment. We also have a programme for planting trees, for every OKOPOD we sell.
